Incorporated in 1955 and encompassing more than 454 acres, the Mt. Prospect Park District provides outstanding recreational programs, events, parks, facilities and services. With seven primary facilities and 27 neighborhood parks, the Park District is an integral part of a thriving multi‑generational community. District open space includes two outdoor pools, biking and walking paths, a dog park and sizable space for outdoor athletic programming.

We are hiring a part-time Kinder Klub Director (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund Pension eligible) for the Park District's Kindergarten enrichment program for Mount Prospect School District 57 students for the 2026‑2027 school year. The PT‑IMRF Kinder Klub Director is responsible for teaching kindergarten‑age children and for planning, organizing, supervising and implementing day‑to‑day activities.
The position is full‑time during the school year from August through June, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with no more than 1,500 hours annually. Working the required hours is an essential function of this position. The director must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid driver’s license, and be able to pass a criminal background check.
Compensation & BenefitsPay rate: $18+ per hour, depending on qualifications.
Benefits include park‑district facility and programming usage, vacation and holiday pay, IMRF pension benefits and a deferred‑compensation savings plan.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, supervise, and ensure safety of the program and activities for children that meet their emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs.
- Execute early‑childhood educational practices, classroom management techniques, and appropriate guidance and discipline.
- Maintain classroom cleanliness and prepare the classroom before and after each day’s activities.
- Operate Park District vehicles to transport students to and/or from school.
- Provide age‑appropriate activities and materials that engage young children.
- Use positive behavior management and first aid when required.
- Develop lesson plans for Saturday‑morning sessions.
- Supervise Kinder Klub Assistants and collaborate with others.
- Communicate daily events to parents.
- Attend regular meetings, departmental special events, and additional duties as requested.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work environment and return supplies to the appropriate location.
- Carry out other tasks as directed by the Early Childhood and Youth Manager, Director of Recreation, or Executive Director.
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor’s degree, or experience in a teaching role with college hours.
- Thorough knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and classroom management.
- Availability to work during the school year, August through June, 8:30 am‑4:30 pm.
- At least 21 years old and valid driver’s license to operate MPPD vehicles.
- Capacity to care for, work with, and relate to children ages 5‑6.
- Ability to maintain composure in high activity and emergency situations.
- Comprehensive task completion and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to speak loudly and clearly in a large group setting.
- Reliable attendance.
- Physical ability to squat, stand, walk, sit, lift 20+ pounds, and work in indoor and outdoor conditions.
Evening and weekend hours may be required. The work schedule may vary and may exceed regular hours, but will be less than 1,500 hours per year.
