Job Summary
Early Childhood and Youth Coordinator (part‑time, IMRF) spect Park District, Mount Prospect, IL. The park district, incorporated in 1955, covers more than 454 acres with seven primary facilities and 27 neighborhood parks. The district offers swimming pools, biking and walking paths, a dog park, and extensive outdoor athletic programming over 11 square miles, serving a community of about 250,000 residents.
The PT‑IMRF Coordinator is responsible for directly managing School Day‑Off programs, seasonal camps and supporting the daily operations of all Early Childhood and Youth programs. The position may also serve as a substitute, transport participants in district vehicles, or be assigned to a permanent role within other programs as needed. Work days are Monday through Friday from approximately 9a.m. to 2p.m., with occasional evening or weekend events.
The average workload is 20–25 hours per week, less than 1,500 hours per year.
The pay rate is $18–$21 per hour

- Communicate and collaborate daily with the Early Childhood and Youth Manager and Supervisor.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, implementation, and supervision of park district school‑year programs, including Kids Klub, Kinder Klub, and Preschool.
- Plan, organize, staff, and oversee Days Off School Programs following the School District 57 and 59 calendars.
- Support early stages of program development for Kids Klub, Kinder Klub, Preschool, and Early Childhood classes; assist with summer camp programs as needed.
- Transport participants to and from field trips or school using park district vehicles as required.
- Act as a liaison between staff and the Early Childhood and Youth Manager.
- Assist with obtaining supplies and materials for programs and perform errands as required.
- Support day‑to‑day office and program operations.
- Assist with monthly billing notices and follow‑up on delinquent accounts.
- Help prepare Preschool and Early Childhood class projects and materials.
- Develop and distribute marketing materials; enhance communication with parents through visual and written media; review and edit monthly newsletters.
- Assist with staff recruitment, training, and supervision.
- Positively represent the District in interactions with parents, participants, principals, school officials, and community organizations.
- Maintain knowledge of and adherence to District safety policies, procedures, and equipment operations.
- Serve as a substitute staff member when required.
- Assist with planning and developing department special events.
- Work occasional nights and/or weekends for special events as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Early Childhood and Youth Manager, Director of Recreation, and/or Executive Director. In emergency situations, perform all other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in recreation, education, social work, or a related field preferred; related coursework acceptable.
- Must be 21 years or older and possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be available for year‑round employment with fluctuating hours between program seasons.
- CPR, First Aid, and Mandated Reporter certifications (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google platforms; ability to navigate the internet and online portals.
- Ability to effectively care for, work with, and relate to children.
- Strong interpersonal, decision‑making, conflict‑resolution, delegation, and organizational skills.
- High level of energy, initiative, enthusiasm, and cooperation.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and maintain composure during periods of high activity or in emergency situations.
