Make a real impact this school year by supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter. This contract opportunity spans the academic year, starting August 19, 2026, and continuing through early June 2027, with an end date based on school assignment. Located in the welcoming northwest suburbs near Mount Prospect, this position is ideal for professionals passionate about fostering inclusive education.

Qualifications

& Desired

Experience:
  • National or state certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or NIC)
  • Demonstrated experience working in K-12 educational settings
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Ability to effectively interpret academic content and classroom communication
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing student or school needs
  • Strong collaboration skills for working with teachers, staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide accurate and clear interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language during classroom instruction, assemblies, and school events
  • Support students communication needs in academic, social, and extracurricular activities
  • Collaborate with educational staff to tailor interpreting services for individual student needs
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all ethical standards in educational interpreting
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the student support team as needed
