Shift Lead

The Shift Lead supports daily production operations by assisting the Shift Supervisor in carrying out the day-to-day functions of the department. This role helps coordinate work activities, guide team members, and maintain workflow to ensure production goals, safety standards, and quality expectations are achieved.

Working under the direction of the Shift Supervisor or other site leadership, the Shift Lead provides operational support, resolves routine issues, and serves as a point of contact for employees during the shift. This position promotes teamwork, accountability, and adherence to company policies, safety standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

Responsibilities include supporting the Shift Supervisor in daily production and operational activities, guiding and assisting team members by resolving workflow issues and ensuring completion of assigned priorities to meet production and shipping goals, coordinating daily tasks and ensuring activities are completed in accordance with established procedures and quality standards, communicating production status, issues, and updates to the Shift Supervisor and other departments, verifying materials, equipment, and documentation are prepared for production runs, supporting employee training in proper work practices, safety procedures, and quality expectations, identifying and reporting safety or equipment concerns promptly to leadership, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and promoting a safe, organized work environment, serving as a resource for team members when leadership is not present, ensuring smooth operations, and performing other related duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.

Qualifications and requirements include a high school diploma or GED required, 2–4 years of experience in a manufacturing, packaging, or production environment, with prior lead or team coordination experience strongly preferred, working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), solid understanding of production processes, safety protocols, and quality inspection methods, demonstrated ability to guide and support team members while maintaining focus on efficiency, safety, and product quality, strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across shifts and departments, proven ability to troubleshoot workflow issues and make sound decisions within established guidelines, ability to stay organized and manage tasks effectively throughout the shift, and flexibility to work varying schedules, including nights, weekends, or overtime, based on operational needs.

Physical demands include the ability to frequently lift to 40 lbs., carry, or move heavy objects as required by production operations, regular and consistent use of manual dexterity for handling materials, tools, and equipment, ability to stand and move for extended periods of time throughout the shift, and may require occasional bending, reaching, or climbing depending on operational needs.

Work environment includes working in a manufacturing and packaging environment with exposure to moving machinery, equipment, and production lines, varying temperatures, including heat, humidity, or cold depending on seasonal and operational conditions, moderate to high noise levels, and the need for appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes.
