This position is responsible for providing outstanding customer service while assisting customers with the selection of fireplaces, patio furniture, BBQ grills, and related accessories. This role combines product knowledge, consultative selling, and showroom presentation to help customers find solutions that fit their lifestyle, space, and budget. The ideal candidate is personable, detail-oriented, and comfortable selling higher-ticket home and outdoor living products.
Key Responsibilities- Greet customers and provide a welcoming, knowledgeable, and pressure-free shopping experience
- Assist customers in selecting fireplaces (gas, electric, wood), outdoor living products, BBQ grills, and accessories
- Explain product features, benefits, installation requirements, and maintenance considerations
- Generate quotes, write sales orders, and process transactions accurately
- Coordinate with installers, delivery teams, and management to ensure smooth order fulfillment
- Maintain showroom displays, product signage, and overall store cleanliness
- Stay informed on product lines, promotions, and industry trends
- Handle customer inquiries, follow-ups, and basic issue resolution professionally
- Support inventory management, merchandising, and seasonal floor changes as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous retail sales or customer service experience required (construction/building, furniture, or specialty retail a plus)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable selling mid- to high-ticket items and working toward sales goals
- Ability to learn technical product information and explain it clearly to customers
- Basic computer skills; POS or CRM experience preferred
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work Saturdays
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift light to moderate merchandise when necessary
- Interest in fireplace design, outdoor living, or grilling
- Experience with fireplaces, patio furniture, BBQ equipment or construction (not required—training provided)
