Position Overview

Security Officer - Hospital Roving Patrol in Mount Prospect, IL. As a Part‑Time Security Officer, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and maintain a visible presence that helps to deter security‑related incidents. You will greet staff and visitors, respond to concerns with calm, professional communication, and document activity with attention to detail.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide customer service to clients, patients, visitors, and staff by carrying out Allied Universal post orders, site‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of interior and exterior areas, including corridors, entrances, parking areas, loading areas, and the perimeter, as directed by site procedures.
  • Monitor access points and help to control entry by verifying credentials, directing visitors to the appropriate check‑in location, and reporting unauthorized access attempts per site policy.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, including disturbances, suspicious activity, medical emergency notifications, and fire and/or intrusion alarms.
  • Observe and report conditions that may impact people, property, and operations, and communicate concerns promptly to site leadership and Allied Universal supervision.
  • Complete detailed incident reports, patrol logs, and other documentation in a timely manner, using clear and accurate information.
  • Use de‑escalation and verbal intervention techniques to help reduce conflict and gain voluntary compliance within the scope of post orders.
  • Operate security‑related equipment such as radios, key control systems, and video monitoring systems when assigned, and report equipment issues through the proper channels.
  • Assist with locating staff and/or directing emergency responders to the reported area when requested, while maintaining professionalism and respect for privacy.
  • Support a professional environment by providing directions, answering general questions, and assisting with lost and found and other service requests as assigned.
  • Perform door and area checks, including checking for unsecured doors, propped doors, and unusual conditions, and report findings per site policy.
  • Work in various environments and conditions based on the location and assignment, including standing and/or walking for extended periods.
Minimum Requirements
  • At least 1+ years of security‑related experience.
  • A guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • Alarm panel experience is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
