Cleaning Services, Janitor, Facility Maintenance
Assists in the performance of regular custodial work and cleaning for County facilities. Position is on call for working hours of 4:00pm to 12:30am Monday through Friday.
Salary upon hire is $21.62/hr the On‑Call Custodian is range 8, step 1 of the General (Non‑Union) salary schedule.
Responsibilities- Sweeps and mops floors. Vacuums, strips waxes and buffs floors. Cleans upholstery. Operates power cleaning equipment, mechanical cleaners and polishers, wet and dry shop vacuum. Mixes cleaning agents.
- Empties and cleans waste receptacles.
- Dusts, waxes, washes and polishes furniture, counters, woodwork, and metal work.
- Cleans and washes windows, walls, windowsills and screens, both inside and outside.
- Cleans rest rooms, washes floors & walls, cleans and sanitizes fixtures, and replenishes supplies.

Required QualificationsAny combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical path to obtaining the required qualifications would be:
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Up to 6 months experience preferred.
Position will require background check through Skagit County Sheriff, Washington State Patrol, and FBI.
Knowledge- Standard cleaning methods and equipment.
- Safe working procedures and practices.
- Material Safety Data for all hazardous materials used.
- Perform basic custodial tasks.
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Work independently to perform routine and repetitive work assignments.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Operate personal vehicle.

Working Conditions /Physical Requirements
Custodial work is performed indoors and outdoors as needed. Work involves prolonged physical activity, including walking, standing, bending, stretching, crawling, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
