3rd Shift Facility Technician

Position Summary

The Facility Technician role ensures operational safety and equipment reliability by performing preventative maintenance, assisting with equipment installation/demolition, and maintaining site housekeeping. The position acts as a safety role model by documenting hazards in the GDC database, supporting continuous improvement, and collaborating with contractors to optimize production.

• Follows all company policies regarding safety, quality and attendance, performs duties in a safe manner and reports all observed safety hazards to management; acts as a role model for safety on shift; participates in safety programs by reporting Unsafe Conditions, Unsafe Acts and Close Calls; enters Near Miss data and Observations into Global Data Center Database (GDC).
• Regularly inspects and maintains production support equipment including Material Handling Systems, wire cutters, oil filling/recovery, conveyors and stretch wrappers.
• Assists with assembly, installation, disassembly, and demolition of production equipment and building support equipment as required for upgrades or new installations.
• Maintains a neat and orderly work area; meets plant and department housekeeping standards; may be assigned additional responsibilities as needed.
• Accurately records/document detailed information regarding work performed.
• Works with contractors as needed for maintenance or project work.
• Maintains building and grounds.
• Participates in employee-driven teams and continuous improvement projects to address scrap, quality, safety or other production-related issues.
• Other duties as assigned or requested.

• Knowledge of specialized field gained through specialized training equivalent to one year of college or trade school or equivalent experience of four to five years preferred.
• Two to four years of experience in industrial and facility repair.
• Must be able to perform each essential duty adequately.
• Possess basic mechanical skills.
• Demonstrate ability to follow written and verbal instructions with little or no supervision.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems and equipment.
• Able to sit to prepare reports and use computer equipment, walking to inspect facility including raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods and overall manufacturing and warehouse operations.
• Ability to work in high room temperatures and humidity.
• Required to exert up to 60 pounds of force occasionally; and/or up to 50 pounds frequently; and/or up to 40 pounds regularly; frequently will lift 30 pounds.
• Computer skills – experience with Microsoft Office and related products desirable.
