Maintenance Manager
Muskegon Area District Library (MADL) serves Muskegon County through a system of branch libraries.
Role DescriptionThe Maintenance Manager is a full-time, on-site role, responsible for overseeing the maintenance, safety, and operational readiness of MADL’s facilities and grounds. Daily tasks include planning, coordinating, and performing maintenance and repair work across multiple branches, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building upkeep. The role manages preventive maintenance schedules, inspects facilities for safety and compliance, and responds to work orders and emergency issues in a timely manner.
The Maintenance Manager coordinates contractors, monitors inventory of supplies and equipment, and collaborates with library leadership to prioritize projects and support safe, welcoming environments for patrons and staff.
- Strong maintenance management capabilities, including Maintenance Management and Maintenance & Repair skills.
- Hands-on technical expertise in Equipment Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance for building systems and facilities.
- Experience with facility safety, building codes, and basic HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, work orders, and technical documentation, and maintain accurate records.
- Good organizational, time management, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between branch locations as needed.
- Technical certifications or vocational training in facility maintenance or a related field preferred.
- Prior experience maintaining public, educational, or institutional facilities is beneficial.
