The Opportunity

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the day‑to‑day operations of the facility and property by completing routine and preventative maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Performing minor and major repair or general maintenance work of facilities, buildings, grounds, and equipment at various sites including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, glazing and painting tasks.
  • Assist in ensuring all facilities are in working order and maintained; ensure all maintenance activities in a facility are carried out efficiently.
  • Repair and treat structures such as showers, floors, sinks, walls, carpets and roofs.
  • Perform minor repairs, troubleshoot and adjust locks on cabinets, lockers and desks.
  • Repair door hinges, clean plugged key slots and change filters on ventilation, heating and air‑conditioning units.
  • Assist with coordination and completion of layout, building and installation of cabinetry.
  • Ensure all facilities are in working order and maintained and report any issues to the Facilities Maintenance Manager.
  • Provide 24‑hour emergency maintenance service as needed or scheduled.
  • Assist with inspections of property and perform required maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain and uphold the quality and standards of the organization and adhere to customer‑service standards.
  • Keep and complete records for all maintenance and service activities conducted.
  • Interact with other departments to ensure proper functioning of all systems in the facilities, including moving, relocating and making adjustments to desks, chairs and files as needed.
  • Assist with compliance and regulations for facilities and retail locations.
  • Provide information to maintain inventory of machinery, parts, tools and equipment for the maintenance department.
  • Demonstrate safe work and risk‑management practices; communicate and enforce all safety and security issues; report and process all employee or customer incidents or unsafe acts in accordance with Parkland USA’s policy and procedure.
  • Maintain confidentiality of collected and stored data.
  • Set priorities and meet deadlines; plan and carry out assignments, resolve conflicts, coordinate with others and ensure the technical accuracy of work while maintaining good working relations.
  • Meet performance expectations and complete all duties as assigned.
  • Travel from site to site; inspect facilities, buildings and grounds for routine maintenance; prioritize repairs and renovations. Frequent travel by conventional means, including motor vehicle within the region and to other locations as required – with approximately 90% travel within the Parkland USA region.
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Requirements
  • 3–5 years of experience
  • DOT Medical Card
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • Ability to efficiently use various power and hand tools
  • Basic mathematical principles
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
