Job Summary

Responsible for the routine upkeep, general cleanliness, and safe environment of buildings owned by Artis-Naples.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
  • Select appropriate equipment and supplies, sweep, clean floors, walls, and partitions in all areas of buildings including classrooms, offices, corridors, mechanical rooms and lavatories.
  • Use brooms, brushes, mops, power-operated scrubbing machines, vacuum cleaners, buffers, carpet sweepers, liquid floor finishers, dust absorbers, and other custodial equipment and supplies.
  • Wash and clean windows, light fixtures, ventilators, and other items which may require climbing in excess of eight feet.
  • Clean and polish desks, chairs, tables, cabinets, and other office equipment.
  • Collect and dispose of trash, and garbage.
  • Maintain lavatories in clean and sanitary condition.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of cleaning materials and keep cleaning equipment in good working order.
  • Unload supplies and deliver to proper storage areas.
  • Observe safety requirements and always maintain safe work environment. Report safety issues and items requiring work orders to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
  • Work effectively with all Artis-Naples employees.

Education/Experience
  • High School diploma or General Developmental Exam (GED) preferred.
  • Experience in the use of cleaning equipment and materials and in cleaning procedures.

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally employee may be required to move up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to squat and stand or walk for extended periods of time on marble floors.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include detailed, close vision, color vision and distance vision in a variety of light and dark environments.
  • Must be able to move easily up and down stairs.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to vibration and noise such as vacuum cleaner. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may reach transient levels in excess of 95dB.
Work Environment

The work environment is consistent with office or performing arts facility. The employee may be exposed to wet or humid conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, work in high places, be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and cleaning chemicals. There is occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Some moderate noise may be experienced.
