General Maintenance Specialist II - Parks & Rec Aquatics

Performs specialized maintenance work within an assigned Department/Division of the County.

• Perform specialized maintenance work within assigned County Division, which may involve plumbing maintenance, swimming pool aquatic chemical control, and aquatic facility maintenance.
• Assist skilled‑trade employees or other workers as needed.
• Perform various tasks involving plumbing maintenance/repair projects; troubleshoot, maintain and repair plumbing systems.
• Perform various tasks involving swimming pool maintenance and bulk chemical monitoring and feeding system operation.
• Perform various tasks involving building maintenance projects and pressure washing.
• Perform various tasks involving maintenance of aquatic facilities, including locking/unlocking facilities, checking for unsafe conditions or faulty equipment, checking pool chemical levels and adding/removing chemicals as needed, conducting super‑chlorination of pool water, cleaning/vacuuming pool, cleaning/backwashing pool filters, cleaning pump house and pump basket, replacing chemical hoses and rebuilding chemical pumps, cleaning probes and injectors, maintaining and repairing exterior lighting, and blowing debris from pool deck and sidewalks.
• Cleanup following hurricanes, storms, or emergency situations.
• Operate a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools associated with Division projects.
• Perform general cleaning/maintenance tasks necessary to keep equipment and tools in operable condition; monitor equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; report faulty equipment.
• Monitor inventory levels of supplies and materials; ensure availability of adequate supplies, tools, and materials to conduct work activities; initiate requests for new/replacement materials.
• Follow safety procedures, utilize safety equipment, and monitor work environment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One (1) year of related experience.
• Fingerprinting required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805.
• Tasks involving maintenance of aquatic center facilities require possession and maintenance of valid Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification within six (6) months of hire.

• Salary offers above the minimum of the pay grade may be considered based on qualifications.
• Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared emergency and/or declared emergency. On an incident‑by‑incident basis, the County’s Administrative Office will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
