Facilities Associate

Reporting to the Senior Facilities Manager, the Associate, Facilities is responsible for helping maintain and taking pride and ownership of the Blair Audubon Center and the surrounding Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary grounds and buildings. The primary emphasis is the upkeep of the boardwalk, buildings, and fleet equipment. This position will assist with maintenance tasks around campus, on the Boardwalk, and in the field.
Maintenance and administrative duties include but are not limited to keeping the buildings clean and in good running condition, executing maintenance tasks and services, operating a computerized maintenance management system, and communicating through email and apps. This position is on-site, full-time at Audubon Florida - Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary.
Compensation: $24.50 - $25.50 / hour
Essential Functions:- Maintaining our 2.25-mile boardwalk year-round to ensure it's safe for all.
- Updating work orders through our maintenance software.
- Cleaning and organization of shops, storage, fleet, mechanical areas.
- Assessing and troubleshooting equipment and performing repairs.
- Performing carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work.
- Operating large equipment such as: tractors/front loaders, excavators, Forklifts, Swamp Buggies, and dump truck.
- Operating small equipment such as: ATV's, pumps, chainsaw's, landscaping equipment.
- Loading and transporting heavy equipment and running errands.
- Supervise volunteers and group volunteer project days.
- Assist with special events and functions; setting up meeting rooms and other spaces when requested and other job-related duties as assigned.
- Required weekly/monthly travel to off campus job sites for maintenance and projects.
- Maintains and fosters culture of safety.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in facilities management or related degree required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- 1-2 years of related work experience.
- 3-5 years of carpentry experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with boardwalks and docks a plus.
- Experienced with rough carpentry and substructure repairs.
- Experience in carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing.
- Experience in facility/maintenance operations, heavy equipment operations, and transportation.
- Experience with maintaining small engine equipment, ATVs, Side by Sides, tractors, vehicles and agricultural equipment.
- Demonstrated experience working alongside volunteers on projects.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and navigating various internet search engines.
- Willingness to learn new software and applications.
- A flexible approach to work, and willingness to work various hours to support Center and Sanctuary needs.
- Ability to effectively coordinate with other staff and interact positively with visitors to the sanctuary and others in the community.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude and professional work ethic; be punctual, highly ethical, honest, and reliable.
