Foreperson - (CDL Required)
DescriptionThis position ensures productivity of daily operations, working with management to determine recruiting/hiring needs, deadlines, and safety protocols. The Foreperson troubleshoots routine job site issues and engages all crew members and contractors on required training, managing, and mentoring.

- Plans, coordinates, and assigns daily work for the crew from orders received from a General Foreperson/Line Clearance Supervisor.
- Conducts field training/retraining and instructs crew on new or revised job units.
- Promotes and upholds a culture of safety, applying sound judgment and adhering to company policies and OSHA specifications to ensure safe work practices.
- Conducts safety training in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Engages property owners/customers to obtain necessary permissions and discuss access, power interruption, and work responsibilities.
- Obtains oral or written permission from property owners before performing required work.
- Maintains good customer and public relations through effective completion of work and appropriate employee conduct.
- May investigate incident reports, damage claims, etc., and settle minor claims.
- Maintains accurate records, timesheets, and reports for crew performance.
- Controls crew costs, including efficient use of personnel, methods, and equipment.
- Provides General Foreperson and utility representatives with reports on orders completed, units of work completed, crew time, and minor damage repairs.
- Furnishes periodic reports on incidents, truck breakdowns, private property damage, and new employee follow-up.
- Cooperates with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways.
- Establishes physical safeguards such as barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc., and makes swift decisions to mitigate risks.
- Inspects tools, trucks, and equipment and makes necessary repairs.
- Maintains housekeeping on the truck and at work location.
- Manages DOT maintenance and inspection requirements on all vehicles.
- Keeps informed regarding new equipment, specifications, and policies, including EEO and AA policies.
- Understanding of drawings and symbols representing lines, voltages, and line equipment.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Organizational skills; able to multi-task.
- Capable of adjusting to field requirements and acting independently.
- Must be able to safely drive an approved company vehicle.
- Must be able to work with hands above head for extended periods.
- Maximum work weight limit of approximately 300 pounds.
- No fear of heights.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- 1+ year experience in the Line Clearance industry required.

License & Certifications- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
- RARE (less than 10%): crawling, climbing, gripping, lifting up to 50 lbs.
- OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, body‑twisting, manual dexterity, lifting 10–50 lbs, reaching, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, stairs, balancing.
- FREQUENT (up to 66%): walking, sitting, climbing on/off truck, reading, lifting up to 10 lbs.
- CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): speaking clearly, vision, hearing, depth perception, color vision.
- Work in proximity to energized power lines.
- Work around excess noise from machines (chainsaw, wood chipper); wear hearing protection.
- Work in all temperatures and weather; exposure to nature.
- Work at varying heights and uneven terrain; climb ladders and work at heights.
- Maintain attention, concentration, and personal protective equipment for extended periods.
