Facilities Maintenance Technician

This role focuses on providing hands-on facilities maintenance and repair support within a large corporate high-rise environment. You will handle a wide range of tasks, from routine maintenance and minor repairs to troubleshooting basic electrical issues, ensuring that the building and office spaces remain safe, functional, and well-maintained.

Responsibilities
  • Handle all maintenance activities and functions as directed by the domestic facilities manager, following established procedures and priorities.
  • Receive maintenance work orders through the computer system, accurately document work performed, and close out orders upon completion.
  • Perform all assigned maintenance tasks in a timely and efficient manner, minimizing disruption to building occupants.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive or confidential information encountered during maintenance activities.
  • Organize and maintain the storage area for tools and equipment, ensuring items are stored safely and are readily accessible.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and correctly for a variety of repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Perform handyman duties such as repairing office equipment and furniture, including desks, chairs, shelving, and related fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot and conduct basic electrical repairs, including outlets, light fixtures, switches, and other light electrical components.
  • Inspect and maintain building components such as doors, door hinges, and locks to ensure proper operation and safety.
  • Support office setups and teardowns, including moving furniture, assembling workstations, and preparing spaces for occupancy.
  • Respond to maintenance calls from building occupants and the facilities maintenance team to fix and repair issues as they arise.
  • Collaborate with the broader facilities maintenance team to support general facilities, HVAC, plumbing, and building systems as needed.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and building guidelines while maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in facilities maintenance or a similar maintenance or handyman role, such as apartment maintenance or commercial building maintenance.
  • Hands-on skills in basic electrical work, including troubleshooting and conducting light electrical repairs on outlets, lights, and switches.
  • General plumbing knowledge sufficient to support facilities maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to perform general facilities maintenance, including work on doors, door hardware, and office fixtures.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for a variety of repair tasks.
  • Ability to use a computer system to receive, track, and document maintenance work orders accurately.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to identify issues quickly and determine appropriate repair solutions.
  • Capability to perform tasks such as office equipment and furniture repair, office setups, and teardowns.
  • Ability to follow direction from a facilities manager and work as part of a facilities maintenance team.
  • Strong time management skills to complete maintenance tasks promptly and prioritize multiple requests.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality when working around sensitive or confidential information.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in apartment maintenance, commercial property maintenance, or similar environments.
  • Experience working in large corporate office buildings, high-rise environments, or multi-floor facilities.
  • Exposure to HVAC and general building systems in a facilities maintenance context.
  • Familiarity with working for or alongside professional facilities management or property management organizations.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with building occupants and team members.
