Description

The Housekeeping Aide is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the facility. This role includes cleaning resident rooms, common areas, in accordance with facility standards, infection control policies, and safety regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Clean resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, and common areas according to schedule and procedures.
  • Dust, mop, vacuum, and sanitize surfaces as assigned.
  • Follow proper infection control and isolation cleaning procedures.
  • Use appropriate chemicals and cleaning solutions as directed.
  • Report needed repairs or maintenance issues to supervisor.
  • Maintain housekeeping cart and storage areas in a clean, organized manner.
  • Provide respectful and courteous service to residents and staff.
Position Requirements
  • Demonstrates professionalism.
  • Adheres to predetermined work dates and times.
  • Regular scheduled attendance is required.
  • Completes assignments in a timely manner as assigned.
  • Works cooperatively with all departments.
  • Maintains a consistently professional appearance.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous housekeeping experience preferred, especially in healthcare.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and use of equipment.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to resident satisfaction.
Physical/Emotional/Mental Demands
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Frequently lift up to 10‑25 lbs.
  • Use hands for simple and firm grasping and fine manipulation.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals such as disinfectants, cleaners, soap, etc.
  • Exposure to latex gloves and other personal protective equipment.
  • Occasional exposure to blood/body fluids as required providing resident care.
  • Occasional exposure to microbial bacteria and other infectious agents inherent to care for older adults.
