Job Overview
Pay range: $20.10–$23.50 (depending on experience) + $1.50 attendance bonus, 2nd Shift Differential, 3rd Shift Differential. Hours Monday through Friday with occasional overtime and weekend work. Shift schedule: 1st Shift 6:00am–2:30pm, 2nd Shift 2:00pm–10:30pm, 3rd Shift 10:00pm–6:30am.
Responsible for operating rolling stock and performing general building equipment maintenance, including winter snow removal, with occasional backup duties to the wastewater treatment plant.
Responsibilities- General repair and maintenance of buildings, forklifts, pallet jacks, company vehicles, and all other equipment owned by the company.
- Maintain company grounds, including snow/ice removal and lawn work.
- Maintain and safely operate all company rolling stock; replace facility light bulbs as required.
- Repair facility plumbing as needed.
- Act as backup wastewater treatment plant operator.
- Back‑up sanitation operator sweeping designated areas.
- Trash removal from the facility.
- Maintain cleanliness of truck sheds, loafing shed, and maintenance shop.
- Maintain cleanliness of the bone yard.
- Assist with roof repairs and clean‑up.
- Perform all other duties as directed by shift maintenance supervisors or lead.
- Ability to perform essential duties efficiently within safety guidelines.
- Capacity to operate all rolling stock efficiently within safety guidelines.
- Proficiency with hand tools and trades‑type tools for facility maintenance.
- Mechanical background required.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, including preventive and scheduled maintenance.
- Basic plumbing skills.
- General knowledge of light fixtures.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to obtain operator licenses for forklift, skid loader, and pallet jack.
- Willingness to work overtime and be called into work for emergencies.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred;
Associate’s degree or equivalent in mechanical trade preferred.
Must be able to communicate within the department, understand directions, read and write, maintain records, and communicate well.
Physical Requirements- Stand/Walk continuously for at least eight hours a day; occasionally for one to three hours.
- Lift/Carry frequently (1–10lb), occasionally (up to 35–50lb), rarely (over 50lb with assistance).
- Continuous exposure to moving machinery, varying temperatures, dust, fumes, and occasional ladder work at unprotected heights.
- Work around dead birds and strong chicken odor.
Six month work history or participation in an industrial maintenance educational program. Internal candidates must have completed six months in their current role to be considered.
Rehire consideration allows a maximum of two previous Tyson employments with a 90‑day waiting period.
Background checks required for certain roles.
