PUBLIC SERVICES UTILITY WORKER - Seasonal

Chesterfield Township is seeking efficient & enthusiastic candidates for the summer, to complete a variety of general labor tasks. Under direct supervision, this seasonal position will perform a variety of manual tasks, including, but not limited to, weed whipping, fire hydrant painting, grass cutting, cleaning, and maintaining Township fleet vehicles, assist in utility infrastructure, and perform other duties as directed.

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
• Must have a valid Michigan Drivers' License, good driving record, and dependable transportation or have transportation available to and from work site.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, use electronic devices to capture data, photos, and time spent on tasks.
• Ability to adhere to established department and Township procedures and guidelines.
• Ability to respond appropriately to verbal and written communication.
• Basic computer knowledge.

Physical Abilities & Work Environment:

• Ability to frequently transport and/or move up to thirty-five (35) pounds; occasionally up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
• Ability to perceive depth, color, and details of measurement.
• Frequently uses various equipment to shovel, rake, sweep, mop, cut, mow, trim, paint, etc.
• Frequent movement and use of limbs.
• Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
• Frequently operates motorized vehicle and power equipment.
• Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information, including status of work progress.
• Performs work in various field conditions including, but not limited to: unpaved sites, slippery sites, uneven terrain, mud, as well as regular exposure to outside weather conditions (e.g. heat, cold, wind, rain, humidity).
