Position Summary

Provides routine indoor and outdoor custodial maintenance services for various municipal buildings and grounds.

Essential Duties
  • Performs general custodial maintenance of municipal buildings including wall, ceiling, and window washing, upholstery cleaning, dusting, and painting.
  • Cleans and maintains floors including carpeting, tile, and concrete.
  • Cleans restrooms.
  • Removes trash and recyclables.
  • Maintains and replenishes cleaning and related supplies and equipment.
  • Assists maintenance supervisor and maintenance technician as needed.
  • Moves furniture and sets up meeting rooms.
  • Performs minor plumbing tasks as required.
  • Removes snow and salts walkways.
  • Replaces light bulbs when needed.
  • Performs other duties as necessary to maintain a properly presentable facility.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Sufficient strength and dexterity to operate power cleaning equipment safely.
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to bend and stoop frequently.
  • Ability to frequently work on ladders at various heights.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including through email.
  • Ability to work with computer/tablet-based work request system.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and ability to work safely and take precautions.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in general maintenance, floor and carpet maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Operation and use of custodial equipment and supplies.
Physical Requirements
  • Tasks involve physical operations requiring closely coordinated performance.
  • Times where exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Task involves extended period of time standing.
Environmental Requirements
  • None. This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
Sensory Requirements
  • The task requires close visual acuity to perform various activities.
  • The task requires oral communications ability.
  • The task requires sound perception.
Benefits 2025 Health Insurance

Pre‑tax payroll contributions for dependent care expenses. Maximum IRS contribution is $5,000 per year. Coverage begins on the first of the month following the date of hire.

Life Insurance

Provided at no cost. Coverage is one times the employee’s annual salary rounded up to the next thousand, with double indemnity for accidental death. Coverage begins the first of the month following the date of hire.

Supplemental Life Insurance

Employees may elect dependent life insurance for spouses or eligible dependents. The employee pays the full premium. Coverage begins the first of the month following the date of hire.
