Position Summary
Provides routine indoor and outdoor custodial maintenance services for various municipal buildings and grounds.
Essential Duties- Performs general custodial maintenance of municipal buildings including wall, ceiling, and window washing, upholstery cleaning, dusting, and painting.
- Cleans and maintains floors including carpeting, tile, and concrete.
- Cleans restrooms.
- Removes trash and recyclables.
- Maintains and replenishes cleaning and related supplies and equipment.
- Assists maintenance supervisor and maintenance technician as needed.
- Moves furniture and sets up meeting rooms.
- Performs minor plumbing tasks as required.
- Removes snow and salts walkways.
- Replaces light bulbs when needed.
- Performs other duties as necessary to maintain a properly presentable facility.
- Sufficient strength and dexterity to operate power cleaning equipment safely.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Ability to bend and stoop frequently.
- Ability to frequently work on ladders at various heights.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including through email.
- Ability to work with computer/tablet-based work request system.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and ability to work safely and take precautions.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in general maintenance, floor and carpet maintenance.
- Operation and use of custodial equipment and supplies.
- Tasks involve physical operations requiring closely coordinated performance.
- Times where exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Task involves extended period of time standing.
- None. This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
- The task requires close visual acuity to perform various activities.
- The task requires oral communications ability.
- The task requires sound perception.
