Position Summary:

St. Paul Catholic School in New Bern is seeking a full-time Custodian to assist with all aspects of the school’s custodial and maintenance needs, including minor maintenance and repairs, waste management, groundskeeping, event setup/cleanup, safety and security, and inventory management. The Custodian will ensure a clean and safe environment for faculty, staff, students, and families. Must be timely, professional, and willing to be a part of the Knight family.

Key responsibilities:

• Cleaning and Sanitizing:
  Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming of office and classroom floors, bi-weekly buffing hallways; dusting, wiping, and disinfecting furniture, equipment, windows, and work surfaces; cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and break room areas; emptying, cleaning, and replacing trash and recycling bins. Includes FLC bathrooms and lunch area. Assists school faculty and staff as needed with cleaning support.
• Minor Maintenance and Repairs:
  Replacing light bulbs, fixing minor plumbing issues, touch-up painting, and reporting larger maintenance needs.
• Waste Management:
  Collecting and disposing of trash and recycling, ensuring proper waste management procedures are followed. Wash and clean indoor / outdoor trash receptacles.
• Event Setup/Cleanup:
  Setting up tables and chairs for daily lunch and school events; cleaning up afterwards.
• Safety & Security:
  Following safety regulations, responding to spills and other hazards, and ensuring the building is safe for students and staff. Ensuring the building is locked and secured at the end of the day; potentially responding to alarms.
• Inventory Management:
  Maintaining supplies and equipment, and reporting any needs. Maintains clean and orderly supply room, routine bathroom and classroom supplies including soap and paper products.
• Annual Deep Clean:
  Strip/wax/buff floors, detailed cleaning of shelves, windows inside & outside, baseboards, all desks/tables/student chairs and other furnishings.
• Other Duties as Assigned
• Minimum high school degree or equivalent required.
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds on occasion.
• Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
• Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
