Service Shop Preventative Maintenance Technician

Position Summary

Completes work assignments and priorities by using policies, data, and resources; collaborating with managers, co‑workers, customers, and other business partners; identifying priorities, deadlines, and expectations; carrying out tasks; communicating progress and information; determining and recommending ways to address improvement opportunities; and adapting to and learning from change, difficulties, and feedback. Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans;

using the Open Door Policy; and applying these in executing business processes and practices.

• Perform basic to intermediate inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements on Walmart equipment, including trailers, tractors, yard trucks, shop equipment, and service vehicles.
• Create and process work orders, assess maintenance, repair and replacement needs, identify needed parts and possible solutions, and select the best solution.
• Conduct maintenance repairs and replacements, such as brake system components (air brakes, antiskid, ABS disc brakes), replacing leaky wheel seals, dismounting and installing tractor‑trailer tires.

• Communicate with customers, suppliers, and associates verbally and in writing, and complete work orders, records, logs and other documentation per established procedures.
• Receive fuel drops and conduct fuel sampling by monitoring the drop for safety compliance, following procedures for fuel additives, monitoring tank levels before and after the drop, preparing samples for analysis and shipping, and completing appropriate paperwork.

• Valid state‑issued driver’s license.
• Brake inspection qualification as defined in FMCSA regulations, Section 396.25.
• Vehicle inspection qualification as defined in FMCSA regulations, Section 396.19.

• Microsoft Office certification.
• ASE certification.
• DOT Transportation Certification.
