Mechanic Grounds worker – Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O)
Job SummaryRutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Mechanic Grounds worker for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Under general supervision, maintains and repairs grounds equipment and performs general grounds maintenance.
Key Responsibilities- Maintains an inventory of parts and supplies for equipment repair.
- Operates and maintains the repair shop and equipment storage area.
- Instructs personnel in the proper use and maintenance of grounds equipment.
- High school or vocational school education, or equivalent, plus three years of experience in repair work of small engine or grounds equipment and some diesel repair experience.
- A valid driver's license and two years of driving experience; successful completion of the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course is required.
- May require Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with air brake endorsement within 90 days of employment.
- Experience in all phases of grounds care, including operating heavy equipment such as backhoe/loader, sweeper, and farm type equipment.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. - Safe driving record required.

Full time position, 40 hours per week, grade 15 salary range $42,735.86 – $57,839.22 (mid range $50,184.47).
