Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Mechanic Grounds worker for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Under general supervision, maintains and repairs grounds equipment and performs general grounds maintenance. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Maintains an inventory of parts and supplies for equipment repair. Operates and maintains repair shop and equipment storage area. Instructs personnel in the proper use and maintenance of grounds equipment.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
- High school/vocational school education or its equivalent plus three years of experience in repair work of small engine/, grounds equipment and some diesel repair experience.

Certifications/Licenses - A valid driver's license and two years driving experience, plus successful completion of the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course is also required. May require Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with air brake endorsement within 90 days of employment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience in all phases of grounds care, including operating heavy equipment such as backhoe/loader, sweeper and farm type equipment is also required. Requires the ability to read write and speak English as commensurate with job duties and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
