- The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.

Posting Summary
- Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Special Services Grounds worker – Housing for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Performs diversified maintenance and grounds duties involving the preparation of campus facilities and the maintenance of equipment and grounds in multipurpose areas of the University.
• Operates power equipment and drives University vehicles.
• Erects and disassembles bleachers, chairs, platforms, lecturer hall equipment, etc.; cleans and maintains buildings, pools and attendant equipment used for such special events as conferences, lectures, concerts, dances, parties, athletic events, etc.
• Performs such incidental duties as guarding exists, collecting tickets, ushering, etc., relative to special events, as required.
• May receive, store, and replenish supplies; pickup and deliver items such as division mail, furniture, linens, and other supplies; load and unload trucks; maintain inventory of supplies and obtain signatures for picked up and delivered items.
• Performs general maintenance of grounds, i.e., cuts grass and shrubs, maintains weeding and fertilizing of lawns and flower beds; performs snow removal operations as assigned.
• Detects faulty operation of equipment and makes minor adjustments; reports questionable conditions to supervisor.
• Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
- One year experience in the landscaping industry with knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in grounds maintenance preferred.

Certifications/Licenses
- Valid driver's license and two years driving experience. Will be required to successfully complete the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be able to read and speak English commensurate with job duties and be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
