- Operates boilers, burners, ventilation and mechanical equipment.
- Operates grounds equipment including mowers and grass trimmers.
- Assists with snow removal as needed.
- Assists in all maintenance and minor repair of mechanical equipment and furniture in the building, including replacement of small window glass.
- Assists in all cleaning as outlined in the custodian's position guide.
- Performs minor maintenance repairs to building facilities and replacement of small window glass.
- Responds to emergency requests at any time, such as snow removal, flooding conditions (burst pipe), etc.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Other related duties as assigned, including but not limited to custodian duties.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Physical ability to lift, push, and/or move up to 50 pounds; can work in extreme temperatures and/or weather conditions; ability to perform repetitive stooping, twisting, and bending.
- Regular attendance required.
- Neat and clean appearance.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with others.
- Willingness to accept additional responsibilities and determine priorities with minimal guidance.
- Ability to get along with adults and students.
- Good moral character: honest, dependable and courteous.
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures; inquisitive when unfamiliar with tasks.
- Ability to read operating instructions, write reports, and maintain records.
- Proficiency with technology (email, data management, work order software, etc.).
- A valid driver's license is desirable.
- Acceptable criminal background report; no entries on child abuse registry.
- Must hold or be in process of obtaining a custodian-fireman certificate (90 hours), or commit to obtaining it within a specified time limit.
- Prefer two years of successful experience as a custodian.
- Must be able to work beyond regular hours when required to ensure custodial assignments are properly handled.
- Lifts, pushes, and/or moves up to 50 pounds.
- Repetitive stooping, twisting, and bending.
- Work in extreme temperatures and/or weather conditions.
- Frequently stand, walk, and sit; use hands/fingers; reach; talk or hear; taste or smell.
- Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, adjust focus.
- Satisfactory criminal background check (not older than one year).
- Child Protection Registry: no entries.
- TB test: not older than one year.
- Mandatory direct deposit paycheck.
- Signed Social Security card; I-9 with required documents.
