OverallRole Description
Croda has an opening for an electrical-instrumentation technician within our maintenance team. This individual should have Journeyperson papers in the electrical trade. The position is a shift work role, working 12‑hour rotating shifts on the ‘DuPont’ rotation, with a seven‑day long break. The role is not on‑call, although overtime may be voluntarily accepted. Knowledge of safe work practices and a commitment to safety are required.
KeyDuties / Purpose of Role
- The instrument electrical position supports manufacturing equipment and performs all required maintenance tasks associated with it. Electrical or instrumentation journeyperson certification (papers) are required.
- Perform routine facility maintenance: install, maintain, adjust, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative and predictive maintenance on electrical and electronic circuitry, electro‑mechanical devices incorporated in manufacturing and process equipment.
- Experience in PLC operations, including basic system configurations, hardware, data manipulation and data communications, and industrial instrumentation and transmitters.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with internal customers to ensure work is completed safely and promptly. Attend site meetings, risk assessment studies and review meetings as required.
- Use computer systems for planned and reactive maintenance activities (SAP).
- Work as part of a small team or independently. Coach and advise less experienced employees and contractors such as apprentices.
- Use planning skills to carry out daily maintenance and small project tasks safely, healthily and in an environmentally acceptable manner.
- Identify materials and equipment required to rectify faults and breakdowns.
- Maintain compliance with legislative and site codes and standards and be accountable for own health and safety and that of others who may be affected.
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping in the workshops and workplace.
- Required electrical journeyperson papers, or 20 years of electrical experience with an electrical or instrumentation firm and ability to demonstrate journeyperson qualifications.
- Lift and move items up to 50 pounds and 155 pounds with help.
- Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
- Occasionally push and pull wheeled dollies loaded up to 100 pounds.
- Full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists.
- Ability to climb ladders and stair towers safely and without limitation.
- Ability to work in production environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, or not air‑conditioned.
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours.
- Move throughout the production floor, including uneven surfaces, climb stairs and ladders.
- Must wear a full‑face respirator and pass all pulmonary function tests.
- Must pass drug test, physical, and background check.
