About New Castle Correctional Facility:

New Castle Correctional Facility is a multi‑level security facility in in New Castle, Indiana, with a capacity of 3,200 incarcerated adult males. It is the first DOC‑owned, privately managed correctional facility in Indiana and has been operated by The GEO Group since 2005. The facility houses incarcerated individuals across security levels 1-4, including those with special needs and maximum‑security classifications. Incarcerated individuals have access to medical care, educational services, therapeutic programming, and vocational training.

Role Overview:

As a Facilities Operations Supervisor at the New Castle Correctional Facility (NCF), you’ll lead and support daily repair and preventive maintenance across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and grounds. This is a working supervisor role, meaning you actively participate in maintenance tasks while guiding the team through safe, timely, and professional operations. Strong experience in HVAC or general maintenance, along with proven supervisory or leadership capability, is essential for success in this role.

NCF also operates an on‑site steam plant/boiler system. While deep expertise is not required at hire, you’ll learn and support these operations as part of your development, gaining exposure to specialized systems unique to the facility.

This Monday-Friday position offers steady day shift hours from 7am to 3pm, along with participation in a rotating on‑call schedule shared among supervisors. You’ll oversee maintenance technicians and help direct incarcerated individuals on assigned tasks as needed, ensuring safety, compliance, and high‑quality work.

Maintenance Technician → Maintenance Supervisor → Physical Plant Director.

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. Depending on the retirement plan you choose, the total compensation value of a $47,320.00 salary, including the State’s retirement contributions, can reach approximately $75,241.02. Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Plan the work schedules based on priorities and deadlines for providing facility and maintenance services.
  • Identify resource needs, review needs with appropriate management staff, and allocate resources accordingly.
  • Develop and recommend work rules and quality control processes impacting operations.
  • Develop and organize preventative maintenance and safety inspection programs for all facilities and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety‑related rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. In addition, you will investigate accidents.
  • Prepare and maintain work reports such as work logs, timesheets, accident reports, etc.
  • Install, inspect, repair, and maintain the electrical, plumbing, paint, carpet, appliances, mechanical, and other related systems in all facility locations.
