Job Summary
The Plant Operations Apprentice assists in the daily operations of facility engineering while training with licensed team members performing maintenance, repair, and installation of system equipment. This interim role works in a team-based environment to learn and develop from experienced staff and provide support to ensure assigned work orders are completed.
Minimum EducationHigh School Diploma or GED.
Licensure, Registration and/or CertificationNone. Current Apprentice license from the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board (CIB), preferred. Must obtain state or city industry licensure within 3 years of employment in the Plant Operations Apprentice role.
Work ExperienceMinimum 1 year of healthcare experience, preferred.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of applicable methods, materials, tools, equipment, and safety precautions. Effective knowledge of applicable national, state, and local codes. Strong mechanical skills and comfortable working in a multidiscipline environment. Good oral, written and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow written and oral instructions and to read and understand basic drawings and manuals. Ability to maintain professional and courteous during highly stressful and fast-paced situations.
Proven ability to work with hands.
Assists licensed personnel performing maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and/or refrigeration of facility equipment. Helps with the testing and troubleshooting of maintenance programs and systems. Maintains equipment and tools in a safe operating condition; retains preventive maintenance procedures, records, and reports. Delivers parts and tools and aids in the repair and installation activities of system equipment. Learns and trains under the guidance and mentorship of licensed members of the team, fostering growth and technical skills.
Performs work in a safe manner and ensure that safety measures are taken.
Independent judgement in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.
Working RelationshipsWorks with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level and above.
