Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Facility Machinery Technician
Repairs and maintains facility machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, dock locks and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.
Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
Assists in dismantling devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
Assists in inspecting used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
Assists in repairing or replacing defective parts.
Assists in adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments.
Assists in installing special functional and structural parts in devices.
Lubricates and cleans parts.
Responsible for accurate and timely paperwork related to essential duties and responsibilities.
Education:
HS diploma
Business
Experience:
5 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses/Certifications:
Must possess a valid driver's license
Language
Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.
Technical
Qualifications & Skills:
Stationary Engineer
Competency:
- Be able to read schematics, blue prints, and document changes or modifications.
- Knowledge and ability to work with controls and control devices
- Be able to plan and schedule work
- Be able to safely travel to and from duty locations
Perform Preventative Maintenance:
- Inspect and determine operations condition of equipment.
- Perform maintenance as required in approved specification
- Recommend changes to specification and/or additional maintenance actions
Practical applications:
- Repair following the standard by applying a formalized and rational method, requires little initiative.
- To be able to methodically implement all this knowledge in the shop floor environment.
Perform Trouble Shooting and Corrective Maintenance:
- Disassemble/Reassemble equipment
- Determine Root Cause of equipment failure
- Make appropriate repairs to address cause of failure

- To be able to situate himself in his work environment.
- To be able to apply his skills in relation to shop work.
- To be able to comply with a predefined communication protocol - to be informed or to inform.
- Knowledge: structure and mission of the being provided.

The associate is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
