Employment Details
ECB status – requires a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department; limited benefit offerings. Variable 2nd Shift ECB can be flexible but requested working hours:
Thursday, Friday, Saturday 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM.
The Environmental Services Worker cleans patient rooms and general spaces throughout the health system facilities following safe work practices and infection control procedures. The role works to maintain all designated areas in optimal cleaning standards according to established disinfection and sterilization guidelines and practices.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
- No work experience required.
- No licensure, registration, or certification required.
- Ability to prioritize work efficiently and effectively.
- Proficient reading, writing, and comprehension of oral instructions and safety signage.
- Physical stamina to meet job requirements and working conditions.
- Customer service orientation.
- Competence using a phone/paging system for cleaning assignments.
- Perform cleaning and sanitizing activities in designated areas including patient rooms, bathrooms, and common spaces throughout the health system facilities.
- Maintain flooring care including cleaning, buffing, and applying floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors; vacuum, shampoo, and extract carpets.
- Use and maintain power equipment and hand tools such as buffers, auto brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture.
- Provide waste collection and removal including biomedical waste, recycling, cleaning trash chutes and receptacles.
- Mix and obtain cleaning solutions from dispensing systems; follow appropriate cleaning methods and use the correct solutions and equipment for different surfaces.
- Restock cleaning supplies and various other items such as toilet paper, paper towels, and soap.
- Carry out bed tracking tasks, as needed.
- Report any maintenance or repair needs to management.
Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.
Working Relationships- Work directly with patients and/or customers.
- Interact with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face‑to‑face interaction.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and staff.
