Second Shift Building Custodian – Armstrong High School ()

Pay:
Category VII, $19.30 - $21.82 per hour (2025-26 custodial contract) plus benefits.
Hours:
3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Monday‑through‑Friday. Summer
Hours:
6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (6 hours per shift, including 5.5 hours paid work time and 30 minutes unpaid meal time).
- Reports to the head day/night custodian, facilities Program Director and Director of Buildings and Grounds.
- Maintains cleanliness of assigned area utilizing proper equipment and supplies for each task.
- Sets up rooms for conferences, classes and special events.
- Provides proper care and cleaning of equipment, tools and the workplace.
- Complies with established timelines and quality completion of tasks.
- Uses work time efficiently and effectively.
- Practices fiscal responsibility related to methods, supplies, equipment, recycling, utilities and the environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Sufficient reading skills to read material data sheets.
- Able to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of cleaning products, procedures and equipment preferred.
- Ability to work alone in situations using ladders of various lengths, equipment and chemicals that can be hazardous when not properly handled, and on rooftops.
- Ability to assist in loading and unloading of delivery vehicles.
- Ability to lift and move tables, desks and chairs weighing up to 40 pounds (not exceeding 50 pounds).
- Ability to lift cartons, boxes and buckets weighing up to 30 pounds (not exceeding 50 pounds).
- Routine operation of backpack and push/pull vacuum equipment on floors, walls and furniture involving twisting, turning, pushing and pulling.
- Routine use of floor‑care mop equipment.
- Routine operation of walk‑behind and self‑propelled custodial floor‑care equipment.
- Routine scrubbing of floors and stairs.
- Routine application of finish to floor systems.
- Routine use of chemicals in a safe manner per manufacturers recommendations.
- Occasional assessment and inspection in a stooped position in HVAC equipment, equipment rooms and building tunnels.
- Occasional stair climbing.
- Occasional work alone on ladders up to 20 feet, on lifts or scaffolds up to 20 feet.
- Occasional rooftop assessment.
- Cleaning of snow and ice from site using shovels, snow throwers or other equipment provided by the district.
