Custodian, Facilities

Summary

The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of the agency’s facilities strategy as directed by the Director of Facilities and Supervisor of Custodial Services, Assistant Director of Facilities, Executive Director, or designee. This position requires the ability to organize and prioritize between multiple large projects and small tasks and consistently make high-quality decisions to maintain our high standards.

Develop and manage facility maintenance and custodial plans to ensure all locations are kept in excellent condition. Ensure the office spaces and services adhere to our quality standards of cleanliness, as well as comply with regulations regarding safety and security. Ensure all building surfaces and floors, restrooms, lunch areas and general entrance and egress vestibules are maintained at the highest standards with proactive preventive cleaning and sanitization.

Responsible for ensuring all facilities are functional, comfortable, compliant.

• High School diploma or its equivalent. 5+ years of progressive work in a custodial role or facilities job assignment.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning products, including chemicals and supplies, and methods used in office cleaning.
• Knowledge of Health and physical hazards of standard cleaning materials to include:
  Proper handling, use and storage of all cleaning chemicals, including dilution procedures when a cleaning product must be diluted before use;
  Proper procedures to follow when a spill occurs; use of required Personal Protective Equipment required for using the cleaning product, such as gloves, safety goggles and respirators; and how to obtain and use hazard information, including an explanation of labels and SDSs.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and reporting.
• Knowledge of operating automatic floor scrubbing machines, floor buffers, and wet and dry vacuums.
• Must complete State/Federal Criminal Background checks and Central Registry checks. Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working within a commercial building or group home residence.
