The Camp Facilities Technician is responsible for supporting the safe, clean, and efficient operation of camp facilities at JCC Metro West’s location in Flanders, NJ. This full-time, on-site role includes performing routine maintenance, minor repairs, and basic troubleshooting for buildings, grounds, and equipment. Daily tasks may involve inspecting and maintaining restrooms, cabins, common areas, and recreational spaces; assisting with setup and breakdown of camp activities;
and monitoring facility conditions to ensure a positive experience for campers and staff. The Camp Facilities Technician will also help with seasonal opening and closing of camp facilities, follow safety and preventive maintenance procedures, and collaborate closely with the camp leadership and operations team to address facility-related needs in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to perform general maintenance tasks such as basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and groundskeeping.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple facility-related tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced camp environment, including occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
- Commitment to safety standards, familiarity with basic building and grounds safety practices, and willingness to follow organizational policies and procedures.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with supervisors, camp staff, and vendors regarding facility needs.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials, and to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Previous experience in facilities, maintenance, camp operations, or a related field is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical training or certifications in maintenance or facilities management are a plus.
