Job Expectation: To provide thorough and efficient care and maintenance services in an efforttomaintainasafe,clean,andcomfortableschoolenvironmentatall times.

• Cleansfloorsofclassrooms,offices,special rooms,corridors,stairs,entrances, lobbies, and cafeteria, as assigned.
• Removes debris on sidewalks leadingto buildingor as assigned.
• Sweeps,drymops,wetmops,vacuums,shampoos,strips,seals,andwaxesfloors, carpets and rugs as assigned.
• Cleansanddisinfectsdailythedrinkingfountains,bathrooms floors,bowls,seats,and urinals in restrooms as assigned.
• Fillspaperandsoapdispensersinassignedareasasneeded
• Opensclassroomdoorsandentrancedoorpriortothestartoftheschooldayorcloses doors and windows and secures lights prior to leaving post daily in accordance with established schedule.
• Movesfurnitureandequipmentwithinthebuildingasdirectedbytheprincipalor facilities manager.
• Storessuppliesanddeliverssuppliestoteachersasdirected
• Performslightmaintenanceandpaintingtasksasneededanddirected.
• Cleansglassof lobbyandentrancedoorsasrequired.
• Wipedownanddisinfectwallsandlightswitches.
• Setsup,breakdown,andcleanscafeteria/all-purposeroomasscheduled.
• Shovels,plows,rakes,andsweepssidewalks,entrance ways,driveways,and parking areas as directed.
• Removalofgarbageinallrooms; adherestodistrictrecyclingplans and procedures.
• Remainsonschoolpremisesduringworkhoursunlessotherwiseauthorized.
• Followsestablishedprocedurestoensurestaffandstudentsafetyinthebuilding(i.e. Locks specified doors to limit building access once school is in session).
• Displays the U.S. flagduringschool hours on dayswhen school is in session.
• Obeysfire and environmental laws and regulations tothe plant operation.
• Removestrashandothermaterialsfromschoolgroundsinaccordancewith established schedule.
• Performanydutiesandresponsibilitiesthatarewithinthescopeofemploymentas deemed necessary by administration to meet the needs of the school.
• Displayethicalandprofessionalbehaviorinworkingwitheveryonewho communicates or is associated with the school community.
• Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriateattireandgrooming,accepting responsibility,andaneffectiveworkethic.

The custodian shallbeemployed underthefollowingterms:

• Salaries,benefits,leavetime,andconditionsspecifiedinthenegotiatedagreement.
• Conditionsestablishedbylawsandcodesofthe State,and policies,rules,and regulations establish by the Board of Education (N.J.S.A.
  
  -4 et seq.).
• Medicalphysicalmustbesubmittedwithin
  45daysofhire;subjecttoterminationif this requirement is not met.
