Utilities Department

Job Description:

To fulfill our mission of inspiring Christ‑like change by creating a distraction‑free experience for guests, the Utility Technician assists in managing all aspects of the Utility Department, performs routine daily, weekly, and monthly tasks, and develops greater strengths in the utility field with an emphasis on water & wastewater operation. This integral position ensures our plant functions properly and maintains safe water standards in line with state and federal laws, allowing our staff and guests freedom to experience life‑change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure and maintain compliance with all organizational policies and procedures as well as state and federal laws during employment.
  • Perform daily wastewater plant activities, including raking bar screens, checking the grit chamber, performing rounds, and engaging in maintenance/repair projects.
  • Install, repair, maintain, clean, and housekeep duties as needed.
  • Assist with maintenance checks, sampling, troubleshooting, and composting activities.
  • Assist with propane and utility locating duties and other maintenance needs as needed.
  • Develop a working knowledge of safety considerations, including excavation hazards, confined spaces, electrical and mechanical hazards, hazardous chemicals, noise, physical hazards, and infectious materials.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong desire to build, replace, and maintain ageing infrastructure.
  • Ability to perform routine tasks and checks in a timely manner.
  • Working knowledge of the operation, methods, and procedures of utility work with an emphasis on being a water/wastewater operator.
  • Working knowledge of machinery used for excavation and construction.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical equipment and preventative maintenance and repair.
  • Desire and ability to pursue the New Mexico Wastewater Operator certification.
  • Current driver’s license and ability to drive company vehicles as needed.
  • Personal relationship with Christ that permeates all aspects of life.

  • On‑site housing with utilities and appliances included.
  • Medical coverage through CHM, employer‑funded HRA, and a pharmacy benefit plan—100% paid for employee and spouse.
  • PTO – base amount of 20 days annually, sick leave, and volunteer time off.
  • Retirement – after 1 year, employer contributes 4% NEC and up to 4% matched.
