Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Truth or Consequences

The Facilities Supervisor leads the day-to-day operations of the core trades crew across the New Mexico span of control, with Gateway to Space (GTS) at Spaceport America as the primary duty station and regular oversight of three additional Virgin Galactic facilities in Las Cruces. Guided by our values, “Safety Above All”, we proactively manage the risks inherent in human spaceflight through our daily actions.

This role directly supervises the Facilities Lead, who in turn oversees the Electrician and Technician, coordinating the crew’s work across all four sites and holding every location to the same standard of safety, compliance, and upkeep. The Supervisor reports to the Technical Facilities Manager and acts as the point of accountability for daily task execution, work order completion, and crew performance NM-wide.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Coordination
  • Directly supervise and set priorities for the Facilities Lead, who assigns and checks daily work for the Electrician and Technician; balance preventive maintenance, work orders, and reactive repairs across GTS and the three Las Cruces facilities.
  • Confirm work assigned through the Lead to the electrician and technician is completed to standard at every site, not just the primary GTS location.
  • Coach, train, and evaluate crew members; support onboarding of new hires and cross-training across electrical and general facilities skill sets.
  • Establish a regular cadence of visits to the Las Cruces facilities to verify conditions, spot‑check completed work, and prevent the primary GTS site from drawing attention away from the outlying locations.
  • Model and reinforce a can‑do, solution‑oriented attitude — someone who steps in on unexpected issues rather than waiting to be told, and who treats every request as solvable rather than someone else’s problem.
Operations & Systems
  • Maintain accurate records in the CMMS (work order system), including status updates, completion notes, parts used, and time tracking.
  • Use Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams) confidently and daily — building schedules, tracking spreadsheets, drafting written updates, and managing email and calendar coordination.
  • Track recurring maintenance (fire/life safety systems, HVAC, electrical, generators) at GTS and the three Las Cruces facilities and elevate deficiencies before they become compliance or safety issues at any site.
  • Support inventory and procurement needs by identifying parts and supplies, submitting requests through the proper channels, and tracking spend against budget.
Communication & Meeting Participation
  • Attend and actively participate in facilities team meetings, safety meetings, and leadership check‑ins, coming prepared with updates, blockers, and proposed solutions.
  • Provide clear, concise written and verbal status updates to the Technical Facilities Manager and Facilities Director.
  • Serve as a liaison between the crew and other departments (Security, Safety, Business Support) and outside parties such as NMSA and vendors, when directed.
Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce safety protocols, PPE requirements, and standard operating procedures across all trades on site.
  • Ensure fire watch, fire suppression, and other life‑safety procedures are followed and documented correctly.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and fire marshal or regulatory visits as needed.
  • Ensure teammates practice safety behavior and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) awareness/prevention and adhere to regulatory protocols and rules.
  • Coach, train, and transfer expertise to your team to drive projects to completion.
Required Skills And Experience
  • 4+ years of experience in facilities, maintenance, or building operations, with at least 1–2 years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and general building systems sufficient to direct specialists and evaluate the quality of their work.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and comfortable learning CMMS or other work‑order/ticketing software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting updates in meetings.
  • Demonstrated can‑do attitude: reliable, proactive, and willing to jump into hands‑on work…
