next Source manages recruitment programs for major universities. Our client has an ongoing need for Porters in upper Manhattan for three-month assignments at $21.50/hour.

Position Summary:

A Porter is a position in the facilities department providing high quality and effective work to the residential buildings and grounds area and are responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of these buildings.

Responsibilities:

• Cleans and maintains building and grounds complex.
• Cleans elevators, stairways, corridors, windows, floors, laundry rooms, vacant apartments.
• Clean mirrors, windows, windowsills and baseboards in all common areas, and dust assigned areas.
• Sweep and mop entrance lobbies, stairwells, offices and elevator landings.
• Polish marble and or brass.
• Moves materials and furniture as required.
• Must be able to pick up/lift items up to 50 lbs. and push a minimum of 100 lbs.
• Collect trash and transport waste to appropriate area. Put recyclables in appropriate container.
• Trims trees and shrubs; fertilizes, seeds and mows lawn.
• Sweeps and hoses sidewalks; removes snow and spreads salts as needed.
• Lobby must be kept clean and neat at all times.
• Neat appearance and excellent command of the English language.
• Must be able to make intelligent decisions should the occasion arise.
• Must be able to go on ladders if needed.
• Perform duties as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma and/or its equivalent required.
• Knowledge of buildings and grounds maintenance a plus.
• Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

The candidate must be available to work Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Sometimes the hours are 7:00am - 4:00pm or the schedule is Tuesday - Saturday or Sunday - Thursday, etc.

• Days: 5 days a week
• Contract duration: 3 months (extension eligibility)

• $21.50/hourly; weekly pay

Education/Experience:

• High school or equivalent (Required)
• Porter: 1 year (Preferred)
