The Painter (mechanic) derives authority from and reports to the Painter Foreman, Supervisor of Mechanical Maintenance, Assistant to the Director of Facilities, and Director of Facilities. Receive work assignments from his immediate supervisor and carry them out in a professional manner.

CHARACTERISTIC

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Receive work assignments from his immediate supervisor and carry them out in a workman-like manner.

* Responsible for seeing that work areas are properly protected, covered with deep cloths, plastic, or other suitable material, and cleaned up on a daily basis.

* Make every effort to keep dust and debris down to the lowest level possible.

* Avoid painting, locks, receptacles, etc., and question superiors re: any questionable situation or irregularity.

* Observe all safety rules and regulations of the College, the State Insurance Fund, and OSHA, paying particular attention to other persons in the area, proper ventilation, and the condition of ladders and scaffolding.

* Clean all dirt and debris from the job site as much as possible, and leave the area broom-clean and dusted upon completion of the assignment.

* Be responsive and supportive of the College Facilities' efforts to save energy and minimize waste.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Two years of experience or training in painting and related skills such as plastering, patching, staining, refinishing woodwork, and cement work.

* Knowledgeable of paint products and methods of application, as well as products relating to surface preparation.

* Able to lift up to 50 pounds without accommodation.

* Able to move and climb ladders up to twenty-five feet in height.

$37.59 - $37.59

Competitive Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). New hires start at 75% of the full rate, increasing to 100% after 24 months. Employees receive subsequent annual increases based on the terms outlined in the contract. Overtime, comp time, and banked vacation time are eligible.
