RESPONSIBILITIES

General:

• Assist in minor repairs to building and upkeep of grounds
• Make minor repairs and adjustments to items such as, furniture, plumbing fixtures, locks, light fixtures, electrical switches and receptacles, and building and door hardware
• Able to identify and repair water leaks
• Replace light bulbs
• Replenish supplies
• Operate various hand and power tools in completing assigned tasks
• Keep public areas, lobby, and waiting areas tidy
• Moving large and small items among classroom and campuses
• Supporting porters with emergency cleanings
• Address any unexpected messes or maintenance needs (e.g., leaks, stains, or broken items).
• Perform regular inspections of machinery and equipment

Communication & Safety:

• Communicate and document works in process and task completion
• Communicate promptly with the Facilities Team regarding any maintenance issues that require attention
• Maintain awareness of safety protocols, ensuring that exits and pathways are always clear
• Ensure adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations
• Be visible and approachable to staff and students, providing a friendly and supportive presence.

Additional Duties:

• May be required to work evenings, nights, and weekends

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments; travel from site to site; exposure to noise, dust, electrical energy, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, and gases; work and/or walk on various types of surfaces, including slippery or uneven surfaces.

Requirements

• Three years of handyman/maintenance experience
• Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs)
• Intermediate plumbing and electrical skills
• Good communication skills and a helpful attitude
• Experience in a school or childcare setting is a plus
• Strong attention to detail

Physical Abilities:

• Physical:
  Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to perform moderately strenuous manual labor; to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight up to 50 pounds; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate specialized hand and power tools and equipment; operate assigned equipment; work overhead while on a ladder, to stand and walk for extended periods of time;
  
  and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Salary Description

$25 per hour
