Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Description
Pay Range: $22.81/hour-$23.50/hour
This role supports all 6 SRYMCA branches in the Saratoga, Warren, and Washington counties
POSITION SUMMARYThis position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Supports the maintenance and repair of fitness and audio-visual equipment across YMCA facilities. Ensures equipment is safe, functional, and properly maintained in accordance with YMCA policies and OSHA guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on fitness and audio-visual equipment across YMCA facilities.
- Identify and assess equipment malfunctions using basic diagnostic tools and techniques. Communicate findings clearly to the Manager and assist in determining appropriate repair solutions.
- Assist with the setup and installation of new fitness and A/V equipment, including assembling components, connecting electrical systems, and testing functionality.
- Monitor and report inventory levels of tools, parts, and supplies. Ensure proper use and storage of maintenance materials and maintain organized work spaces.
- Follow all YMCA safety protocols and OSHA guidelines during maintenance tasks. Immediately report any safety hazards, equipment failures, or incidents to the Manager.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections. Complete incident and accident reports as required.
- Interact professionally with staff and members, responding to equipment-related concerns and providing basic guidance on safe usage when appropriate.
- Be familiar with emergency procedures and respond appropriately to incidents involving equipment or facility safety.
- Wear approved uniform at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
- Minimum age of 18 years old.
- 1–2 years of experience in mechanical or electrical repair preferred.
- Basic knowledge of electrical schematics and mechanical systems.
- Working knowledge of OSHA guidelines.
- Current CPR PRO & First Aid certifications preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License
