What you'll do
The Regional Technician I is responsible for property/building maintenance of the regional sites and performs semi-skilled work in the maintenance, care, and modification of the Hospital and Clinics, which includes the operation of electrically-powered and gasoline-powered grounds keeping equipment and machines, and the use of small hand and power tools and equipment for planting, cultivating, and trimming grounds and landscaping.
This position also performs maintenance on grounds keeping equipment and tools, and makes minor repairs (within demonstrated capability), as directed. The Regional Technician I changes light bulbs, paints walls and woodwork, repairs furniture and equipment, makes minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs, and delivers supplies, materials, and equipment, as needed.
They are on-call and available for weekend, emergency maintenance and early morning snow removal responsibilities. They are to assist and work under the guidance of the Regional Tradesmen with projects and daily work orders when weather prohibits outside work.
* Safely performs all phases of landscape maintenance required for the Regional properties
* Performs all phases of snow and ice removal within department standards for the safety of patients, visitors and staff.
* Responds as requested for emergency snow removal
* Is on-call for emergency snow removal, as scheduled within the department, and will respond and report to work according to department protocols
* Safely performs building maintenance required for the Regional properties
* Includes, but not limited to, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical & Carpentry
* Assesses emergent situations and perform required tasks for the safety of the building and staff
* Completes work orders and documentation of work completed
* Maintains a safe and clean work area at all times
* Completes basic cleanups for all assigned work
* Understands and observes all safety regulations, practices, policies and procedures
* Assists with planned maintenance repairs as assigned
* Ability to take direction while working with team members
* Assists with finishing casework, counter tops and walls
* Assesses and completes office moves across the network
* Assesses inventory items as they are used and needed for restocking
* Will respond to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service
* Makes suggestions that will result in increased productivity, costs savings, or higher standard of aesthetics for the campus
* Is on-call for emergency maintenance, as scheduled within the department, and will respond and report to work according to department protocols
* Work schedules of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts and weekends may be required depending on workload, accessibility to areas, and snow removal requirements throughout the year
* Work schedules will change depending on time of year and workload
* They are on-call and available for weekend, emergency maintenance and early morning snow removal responsibilities
* Performs other duties as requested or assigned
What we need from you
Education:
* High School Diploma or GED, preferred
Experience:
* Minimum of one year of experience in property/building maintenance; landscaping; agricultural or construction trades or one year of trade school or BOCES program, preferred
License/Certification:
* Must possess a valid NYS Class D driver's license and maintain eligibility of insurability to operate the organization's vehicles, required

Physical Requirements:
