Location: New York

The State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry, located at 33 West 42nd Street, Manhattan, is seeking qualified candidates for the following positions:

  • Plant Utilities Assistant (Grade
    9)
  • Plant Utilities Engineer 1 (Grade 14)
Plant Utilities Assistant (Grade
9)

Under the supervision of a Plant Utilities Engineer 1 or 2, this position supports the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical and electrical systems that provide heating, hot water, ventilation, air conditioning, and electrical distribution. Duties also include performing light plumbing and electrical work as needed.

Plant Utilities Engineer 1 (Grade 14)

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the College's physical plant systems, including HVAC, perimeter heating, plumbing, water supply, and related facility equipment. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, responding to service calls, and troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems using the work order management system. The role requires working knowledge of computer systems and a Building Management System (BMS) and may include supervising staff and overseeing on-site contractors.

Salary

& Benefits
  • Grade 9: $42,641 hiring rate + $575 shift differential + $4,000 location pay
  • Grade 14: $56,506 hiring rate + $4,000 location pay

Current New York State employees will receive the hiring rate or a percentage increase in basic annual salary, whichever is higher. View our Benefits at a Glance
