Essential Job Functions Overview

Perform any combination of light cleaning duties in accordance with assigned properties to maintain Lakeview facilities. Individuals should strive to create a healing environment that respects the perspectives and experiences of the individuals, families, staff, and communities we serve by practicing safe, respectful communication as well as recognition of individuals’ boundaries and differences.

  • Clean and maintain restrooms – sweep, mop, sanitize all surfaces, clean and polish mirrors and dispensers, replace trash liners, replenish soap and supplies as needed
  • Basic trash removal; responsible for the proper recycling of all recyclable goods
  • Vacuum staff offices, conference rooms and common areas
  • Sweep and mop floors in hallways, community rooms, lounges and foyers
  • Clean elevator(s) - wipe down walls and elevator buttons, sweep and mop floor
  • Clean all water fountains
  • Clean stairwells - wipe down walls, doors and door jams and sweep floors and stairs
  • Clean exterior and interior windows on entry doors
  • Dust indoor window ledges and walls, remove cobwebs, wipe down base boards
  • Realign, dust and polish furniture in common areas, lounges, and conference rooms
  • Clean and maintain common area kitchen(s) – garbage, recycling, and floors only (staff are responsible for dishes and appliances)
  • Clean and maintain all laundry rooms including behind machines and lint traps. Restock soap as needed
  • Inspect common area furniture for wear and defects; complete maintenance request as needed
  • Report unsafe situations immediately (i.e., frayed cords, broken chairs, tripping hazards, etc.)
  • Inventory cleaning supplies
  • General upkeep of outdoor areas
  • General assistance with moving and set up of light furniture/equipment as needed
  • Assistance with basic maintenance needs as requested by Facilities Director
  • Assist in light shoveling of sidewalks and entryways
  • Clean up of spills consistent with Health and Safety standards
  • Additional site-specific duties per assignment including but not limited to apartment turnover activities
Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED equivalent and one year of experience in housekeeping and/or custodial work is preferred. Valid NYS Driver’s License required.

Skills and Abilities

Reading and interpreting information, following instructions, developing, and maintaining a schedule of duties; analyzing and evaluating situations and using independent judgment and initiative in taking effective action; communicating clearly and concisely; setting priorities and meeting deadlines; ability to use cleaning equipment. Must be detail oriented and enjoy working as part of a team. Must be able to work effectively and professionally around persons with mental illness.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to move supplies and use equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, minimal outdoor work. Ability to turn, stoop, bend and stretch to perform work. Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
