Overview: We are seeking three Utility Porter positions for our Building Services team at One World Trade Center. Candidates will create a positive experience by providing superior customer service to building tenants and guests. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, ensuring that designated areas are always clean and well organized.
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm (Saturday and Sunday off).
Positions are eligible for overtime for all hours worked, consistent with the Local 32BJ Collective Bargaining Agreement. This is a Local 32BJ union position based at One World Trade Center. Salary range: $24.036 – $32.048 per hour.
Responsibilities- Perform heavy physical labor, moving and pushing large amounts of trash.
- Operate freight cars and freight elevators safely and efficiently.
- Operate heavy and specialized equipment, as well as tools and equipment used in custodial work.
- Clean all vertical and horizontal surfaces of the pantry, sweep and damp mop floors, and clean microwave and refrigerator per directives.
- Clean lavatories: empty waste receptacles, replace liners, clean fixtures with approved disinfectant, replenish soap and paper dispensers, and wash floors with disinfectant.
- Machine‑scrub floors, rinse, apply floor finish, and buff hard floor surfaces while ensuring no splash of solution on walls, doors, or furniture.
- Dispose of all collected rubbish in proper containers (wet or dry trash).
- Follow work directions as provided by the supervisor and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Use hands for simple grasping and fine manipulation, and perform bending, squatting, crawling, lifting, and reaching, including carrying medium weights up to 75 pounds.
- Prior office cleaning experience or similar custodial environment.
- Ability to operate tools and equipment used in custodial work.
- Meet all scheduled timelines.
- Understand and follow work directions from the supervisor.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Follow instructions per tenant requests.
- Work cooperatively with others.
- Observe health and safety regulations.
- Ability to utilize a two‑way radio for information and assignments.
- Perform work while standing or walking.
- Use hands for simple grasping and fine manipulation.
- Perform activities involving exposure to moving machinery, temperature changes, dust, and chemical fumes.
Essential functions of this job require walking, sitting, using hands and fingers to handle, a touch, reach, balance, stoop, crouch, bend, talk, and hear. Occasional lifting and moving up to 75 pounds is required. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. The noise level is usually moderate.
