ApprenticeHighway and Sewer Inspector – Responsibilities
- Inspect grading, paving, and repaving of streets.
- Inspect maintenance, repair, and construction of sewers and appurtenances, house sewer connections, retaining walls, streets, and street openings.
- Check the size of street openings and the satisfactory restoration of pavement or sidewalk.
- Investigate complaints and reports on findings.
- Drive a passenger car or light truck to and from work assignments.
- New Hire Rate: $37,499 / Incumbent Rate: $42,738.
- After completion of the first year: $40,376 / $46,432.
- After completion of the second year: $50,209.
- After completion of the third year: $54,310.
- License requirement
:
Must possess a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York and maintain it for the duration of employment. - Preferred skills
:
Preference will be given to candidates possessing a four‑year high school diploma or equivalent. There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position. - Residency requirement
:
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. City employees with two continuous years of service may be eligible to reside in certain nearby counties. Verify eligibility during interview. - Additional information
