Maintenance Technician

Volunteers of America–Greater New York (VOA–Greater New York) is a leading anti-poverty organization serving neighbors in need across New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester. We support over 35,000 adults and children each year through 70+ programs, including individuals experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, youth aging out of foster care, veterans, seniors, and children with developmental delays.

Maintenance Technician

Victory II is a facility that provides comprehensive services and safe, anonymous housing for individuals and their children experiencing domestic violence.

• High School Diploma or GED with 1 year custodial and/or maintenance experience.
• Good communication skills.

• Clean all areas and dispose of garbage in accordance with the facility schedule.
• Provide general interior and exterior maintenance (examples: floor stripping, power washing, plaster or sheetrock repairs, painting, lightbulb changing).
• Maintain the facility landscape and perimeter (examples: lawn mowing, shrub trimming, snow removal, debris removal).
• Complete work orders in a timely manner.
• Accept and transport deliveries of supplies, furniture, and other program materials. Assemble furniture and equipment and maintain in working condition.
• Assist in inventory control.
• Be available and provide back-up in emergency situations.

This position is physically active and requires regular mobility. The employee is frequently required to talk, hear, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and crouch throughout the day. The role also requires the ability to lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
