Light Duty Cleaner Floater – OWTC

Location:

One World Trade Center, New York, NY 10007

Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Saturday and Sunday off). Floater position.

Position Type:
Union (Local 32BJ) – eligible for overtime in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Salary: $24.04 – $32.05 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Empty wastebaskets and damp‑wipe in/out; place collected rubbish in designated removal areas.
  • Dust and wipe clean all furniture, equipment, telephones, windowsills, baseboards, chair rails, picture frames, and doors.
  • Remove finger marks and smudges from office entrance doors, light switches, door frames, and interior glass (excludes windows).
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas and sweep or damp mop hard floor surfaces nightly; dust doors and ventilating louvers.
  • Maintain janitor closet to standard level; ensure all assigned equipment is clean.
  • Secure lights and doors scheduled to be locked after cleaning.
  • Report any malfunctioning items to immediate supervisor.
  • Pandry maintenance: clean surfaces, microwave, refrigerator; sweep and damp mop floor.
  • Clean lavatories: empty receptacles, replace liners, disinfect all fixtures, replenish dispensers, wash floors with disinfectant.
  • Floor scrubbing: machine scrub, rinse and apply finish; sweep, damp mop and spray buff hard floors.
  • Operate freight elevator, remove rubbish from lobbies, sweep and mop freight lobbies, dispose rubbish in proper containers.
Qualifications
  • Prior office cleaning experience or similar environment.
  • Ability to operate custodial equipment and tools.
  • Meeting schedules and timelines.
  • Follow directions from supervisor and tenant requests.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision; collaborate with others.
  • Observe health and safety regulations; use two‑way radio to receive assignments.
  • Work standing or walking; manual handling including bending, squatting, crawling, lifting up to 50 lb, and reaching.
  • Comfortable working around machinery and chemicals; exposure to dust and temperature changes.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Employees may walk, sit, use hands, reach, balance, stoop, crouch, talk, and hear. Occasional lifts up to 50 lb. Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision. Noise level is usually moderate.
