Light Duty Cleaner

We are seeking two Light Duty Cleaners for our Building Services team at One World Trade Center. Candidates will create a positive experience by providing superior customer service to building tenants and guests. Responsibilities include ensuring that designated areas are always clean and well‑organized.

Shift & Compensation
  • Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Saturday and Sunday off)
  • Floater position
  • Salary Range: $24.04 – $32.05 per hour – eligible for overtime under the Local 32BJ Collective Bargaining Agreement
Key Responsibilities
  • Empty wastebaskets, damp wiping in/out, and dispose of rubbish in designated areas.
  • Dust and wipe all furniture, equipment, telephones, and windowsills.
  • Dust baseboards, chair rails, picture frames, and doors within reach.
  • Remove finger marks and smudges from all office entrance doors, light switches, door frames, and interior glass.
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas; sweep and/or damp mop all hard floor surfaces nightly.
  • Dust all doors and ventilating louvers within reach.
  • Maintain janitor closet to standard levels and ensure assigned equipment is clean.
  • Turn off all lights and secure doors scheduled to be locked after cleaning.
  • Report all malfunctioning items to the immediate supervisor.
  • Clean pantry, lavatories, and freight elevator areas as directed, with special care to avoid splashing cleaning solutions on walls or furniture.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Prior office or custodial cleaning experience.
  • Operational knowledge of custodial tools and equipment.
  • Ability to meet schedules and timelines.
  • Strong following of supervisory instructions.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate via two‑way radio and report on assignment progress.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks that involve standing, walking, bending, squatting, crawling, lifting up to 50 lb, and exposure to dust and chemical fumes.
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations; cooperative teamwork.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Occasional walking, sitting, and use of hands for fine manipulations.
  • Occasional lifting and moving up to 50 lb.
  • Noise level usually moderate; requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision.
