Overview

We are seeking three Utility Porters for our Building Services team at One World Trade Center. Candidates will create a positive experience by providing superior customer service to building tenants and guests. Responsibilities will include ensuring that designated areas are always clean and well organized.

Shift / Hours
  • Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Saturday and Sunday off)
Union

Local 32BJ union position.

Salary Range

$24.036 – $32.048 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Perform heavy physical labor moving and pushing large amounts of trash.
  • Operate freight cars safely and efficiently.
  • Operate heavy and specialized equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Operate tools and equipment in general custodial work.
  • Understand and follow work directions as provided by supervisor.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Use hands for simple grasping and fine manipulation.
  • Bend, squat, crawl, lift, and reach as required.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, swinging, or pulling medium weights up to 75 pounds, including overhead lifts.
Pantry Maintenance
  • Clean all vertical and horizontal surfaces, microwaves, and refrigerators as directed.
  • Clean lavatories: empty all waste receptacles, replace with new clear plastic liners, clean all fixtures (toilet bowls, urinals, sinks, partitions, mirrors) with approved disinfectant, replenish soap and paper dispensers, and wash all floors with approved disinfectant.
  • Scrub floors, rinse, and apply floor finish; sweep, damp mop, and buff hard floor surfaces.
  • Operate freight elevator and remove all rubbish from designated freight elevator lobbies; sweep and mop freight lobbies.
  • Distribute collected rubbish to proper containers (wet or dry trash).
Qualifications
  • Prior office cleaning experience or similar environment.
  • Operate tools and equipment in general custodial work.
  • Meet all schedules and timelines.
  • Understand and follow work directions as provided by supervisor.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Follow instructions per tenant request.
  • Work cooperatively with others.
  • Observe health and safety regulations.
  • Use two‑way radio to receive information and assignments and report on progress from various locations.
  • Work while standing and or walking.
  • Use hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Bend, squat, crawl, lift, and reach as required.
  • Expose to moving machinery, temperature changes, dust, and chemical fumes.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing duties, employees may walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach, balance, stoop, crouch, bend, talk, and hear. Employees may occasionally lift and move up to 75 lbs. Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Noise level is usually moderate.
