- STARTING WAGE: $22.00/hour
- A working knowledge of the methods and equipment used in custodial services, floor, and building care, plus light maintenance work
- High School Diploma or equivalent (copy required upon hire)
- Yearly Physical (required within 1 month of hire)
- Valid NYS Driver’s License (copy required upon hire)
- Ability to work with a diverse population presenting a variety of cultural, socioeconomic, developmental and sexual identities. Must have the ability and willingness to establish and foster healthy and supportive relationships that acknowledge individual identities and encourage personal growth.
- Good Communication and Organizational Skills
- Experience working with adolescents
- Must successfully complete all required background checks:
- NYS Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR)
- NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) fingerprinting
- Out-of-state child abuse register inquiry of any state in which the person resided within the last five years (if applicable)
- Office of Inspector General (OIG)
- Must successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)
- Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Must be flexible to meet the needs of the program
- Be able to handle all the physical responsibilities of the position, which include but are not limited to bending, lifting, moving, and prolonged periods of standing, the ability to climb ladders and scaffolds, the ability to use various cleaning equipment and products and the ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor.
- The ability to shovel and remove snow from walkways and areas adjacent to buildings.
- Must be able to successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training
- Perform a variety of cleaning and unskilled maintenance tasks.
- Responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of assigned areas in assigned buildings, surrounding grounds, and walkways.
- Employees in this job also function as a part-time Vocational Instructor for the youth assigned to their specific skilled trade area, providing a positive work experience emphasizing the development of good work ethic and vocational skills.
- Perform general cleaning and disinfection tasks
- Collect and remove the trash, recycling, and transport to a centralized location for disposal
- Washes floors, corridors, stairwells, walls, partitions, and windows using mops, detergents, brushes, and other cleaning devices
- Scrubs and cleans restrooms and showers, using hand-operated equipment and cleaning agents; and unclogs toilets, traps, and sinks
- Vacuums, strips, and waxes floors, and shampoo carpets using manual and mechanical equipment
- Replaces light bulbs, and dusts or washes light fixtures and high places, such as ceilings, using ladders, other appropriate equipment, and tools
- Polishes wood and metal surfaces, fixtures, furniture, and equipment
- Moves, and arranges furniture and equipment in connection with cleaning tasks or preparation for meetings events, and other activities
- Sweeps, removes snow, and salts walkways using mechanical and manual equipment
- Reports and recommends necessary repairs and maintenance requiring skilled trades work to the supervisor
- Prepares, mixes, and dilutes cleaning solutions following the manufacturer’s directions
- Demonstrates proper cleaning procedures
- Properly use equipment, material, and tools in a safe and professional manner
- Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor
- Upon hiring into the program, assess the youth’s interests and knowledge of the Vocational Program specific to your trade area
- Instructs youth in a skilled trade to prepare them for employment upon discharge
- Plan and conduct on-the-job training activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides youth with opportunities to observe, question, and participate in
